Last Friday we organized the first course in the series “Emergency ultrasound. Point of Care USG. Protocols FAST and BLUE.”
The head of the Point of care USG courses is. Paweł Andruszkiewicz, MD, Ph.D.
The meeting was very intense: 4 hours of individual exercises with ultrasound machines; case studies; conversations with the lecturers.
During the basic course, participants practice the following protocols: FAST (Focused Assessment with Sonography in Trauma) and BLUE (Bedside Lung Ultrasound in Emergency). The advanced course concerns the FATE (Focus Assessment Transthoracic in Emergency) and RUSH (Rapid Ultrasound in Shock and Hypotension) protocols.
Point of Care ultrasound protocols are used to solve a specific clinical problem at the patient’s bedside.
One of the leaders, dr. Bartosz Sadownik – from MUW 2nd Department of Anaesthesiology and Intensive Therapy – explains why the protocols in ultrasound examinations are so important:
“Their goal is to close the complex procedure in a few simple probe applications and limit the entire examination to two or three minutes. Thanks to the protocols that we practice on the courses at CSMI WUM – eFAST, BLUE, FATE, RUSH – we can obtain the maximum amount of clinical data without wasting time. ”
We would like to thank the hosts, participants and technological partner.
We invite you to the next courses in September. We will soon announce the dates of the Basic and Advanced Courses in November 2020.
